The Crown Financial Ministry at the Church in the Falls has two primary goals. 1) Helping people with money issues, particularly regarding debt. Debt problems hinder the ability to serve God fully and enjoy life. The focus becomes dealing with the debt problems.
Just as the Rich rule the poor the borrower is servant to the lender. Prov. 22:7
2) Helping people to understand Biblical principles for handling material wealth God’s way, avoiding the problems and enriching our walk with God.
Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O LORD, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. Riches and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and it is at your discretion that people are made great and given strength. 1 Chronicles 29:11-12
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:18-19
These are studies that are offered in September and February each year. The study lasts 10 weeks and involves daily homework. Each session lasts two hours and is usually offered on Wednesday evenings. However, for those desiring a different meeting time the schedule may be revised according to group interest. There is a charge for the study materials. The studies are lead by people who have been through the study and are applying the principles.
There are trained budget counselors available to provide one-on-one counseling for those who feel a need for help in this area, especially in dealing with debt. The counselors are comitted to absolute confidentiality. Each counselor has been trained and certified by Crown Financial Ministries.
Other Classes and seminars will be offered occasionally.
From time to time there will be needs identified through the Budget Counseling ministry. This would occur when someone has demonstrated during the counseling process his/her commitment to handling finances God's way but who just doesn't have the ability to meet immediate needs. At this point the congregation would be presented with the opportunity to provide assistance. Paul presents an argument of the mutual ministering of one to another in 2 Corinthians 8: 13,14
Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality . . .
Leaders of small group studies are chosen from those who have successfully completed the study and are following the practices taught.
Volunteer Budget Counselor training is available from Crown Financial Ministries.
